Launch of New Cultural Services Programme for May to August 2016

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan launched the new Cultural Services Programme for summer on Thursday 21st April.

The programme runs in Council’s museums, art centres and other venues across the area. In a programme packed with exhibitions, events and creative learning opportunities there is something for everyone to take part in. 

The Mayor said, “I would encourage all our local families and visitors to take advantage of the tremendous range of cultural activity being delivered in our area over the summer - film, music, history, creative writing, arts, crafts and photography plus so much more’.

“Some of the events and classes get booked up quickly so make use of this programme to get in early so you don’t miss out’.

Explore exhibitions on; the influential events of 1916; the thrill of the NW200; the fascinating ‘Irish History Starts here’; the way we were in ‘Limavady Sporting Life’; ‘A flash of Brilliance: glass, Ceramics and Silver’; and the enigmatic ‘Beautiful Creatures’ of Emily Carew Woodward.

There are also other exhibitions featuring the work of our local artists and photographers including Hugh Thomson, Jack Wilkinson, Tom McDonnell, Katy English and a number of local groups.

Performances include Northern Lights, Wigglegiggle, Ports, Kaz Hawkins Band and Amanda St John. As well has entertainment in the form of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and ‘Maggie’s Feg Run’ and screenings of Star Wars, Song of the Sea and ‘Painting the Modern Garden: from Monet to Matisse’, amongst others.

Discover Ballycastle and Green Lane Museums which are now open for the summer.  Learn new skills in silver jewellery, glass, willow, circus, drama and other arts and crafts with a range of classes for adults and children.
