The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens has welcomed Limavady High School U16 rugby team to a special reception in Coleraine.

The team took home the coveted Danske Bank High Schools’ Cup in March, after a late try clinched a 17-13 victory over Bangor Academy in a thrilling final played at Kingspan Stadium.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Ciarán McQuillan congratulated them on their success saying: “I was delighted to meet the players from Limavady High School U16 rugby team and celebrate their Cup final win.

“I enjoyed chatting to the boys and hearing more about how they took their team to victory. Their love and passion for the sport shines through, and they are fantastic ambassadors for both their school, and sport in Causeway Coast and Glens.

“I also want to commend the hard work and dedication of the coaching staff, and I’m sure none of them could do what they do without the support of family and friends.”

Mr Caskey, U16 team Coach added: “Thank you to the Mayor for hosting our team and celebrating their success. The school are extremely proud of the boys’ achievements. I have no doubt they will inspire the next generation of rugby players at LHS.”
