The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, met with The FTD Brothers, Jordan and Cian Adams, in Coleraine on Tuesday 28 April to show support for their remarkable fundraising challenge in aid of dementia awareness.
The brothers are currently undertaking an extraordinary endurance mission - running 32 marathons in 32 consecutive days across towns and cities throughout the UK and Ireland. Their campaign aims to raise vital funds and awareness for frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a condition that has deeply impacted their family and inspired their journey.
On Day 3 of their challenge, the brothers arrived in Coleraine, where they were warmly welcomed by members of the local community and had the opportunity to meet with the Mayor. The visit marked an important moment in their journey, highlighting the strong sense of community support across Causeway Coast and Glens.
Throughout their challenge, the brothers have been met with encouragement and generosity at every stop. Reflecting on their Coleraine visit, they shared their gratitude to all those who came out to support them, noting that such encouragement continues to motivate them through the physical and emotional demands of the challenge.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, said:
"It is truly inspiring to witness the determination and resilience shown by Jordan and Cian, the FTD Brothers. Taking on 30 marathons in 30 days is an incredible feat, but what makes it even more powerful is the purpose behind it.
“Their journey is a moving tribute to their family and to all those affected by dementia. By sharing their story and pushing themselves to such limits, they are not only raising awareness but also offering hope and encouragement to others facing similar challenges.
“We were honoured to welcome them to Coleraine and to stand alongside them in support of such an important cause. Their message is clear - through strength, unity, and community spirit, we can make a real difference.”
The FTD Brothers’ campaign continues to gain widespread attention, as they shine a spotlight on the realities of dementia while encouraging open conversations and increased support for those affected.
As they continue their journey across the region and beyond, they remain focused on their mission to make a meaningful impact and to honour their loved one through every mile completed.
