The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan took the opportunity to experience working as a Council employee during a series of visits which saw her collecting bins, picking up beach litter, registering births and working with the Ballycastle Harbour Master. When contacted about her new Council roles, the Mayor commented, “Since I’ve been in post I’ve been determined to experience what life is like for our hard working Council staff. I’d like to thank all of the departments who took the time to educate and train me in their skilled areas throughout my week. "It is important for me to understand the full extent of Council staff roles and responsibilities. There is no better way to do that than to experience it first-hand. It is very easy to assume we know what a department does or how they do it, but until you actually spend time 'walking in their shoes', or steel toe cap boots as the case may be, you cannot fully appreciate the role. I am looking forward to continuing my visits and getting to know the staff behind the services."
