The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has welcomed the Executive’s pledge to provide £20.3m to local councils in response to the ongoing pandemic.
Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey said the additional money will assist with financial pressures as a result of COVID-19.
The Mayor, Councillor Sean Bateson said: “While Council continues to ensure that essential services are maintained despite the current challenges, other areas and revenue streams have been severely impacted.
“This extra financial assistance from the Executive reflects the position of local Councils, and will help to support our vital services now and in the months to come.
“It is crucial that we have the resources to provide our ratepayers with the services they require, and this additional funding will help to address this.
“The support also recognises that Council will have an important role to play as we move towards the pandemic’s recovery phase. This will be another unprecedented challenge but we want to be ready to do whatever we can to support all of our residents and ratepayers.
