Earlier this week, Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver Mc Mullan, welcomed a group of key tourism representatives to the Borough as part of a familiarisation visit designed to showcase just some of the fantastic experience the Borough has to offer.

When welcoming the group the Mayor said: “I was delighted to meet everyone today, including representatives from Tourism NI, hotels, Visit Belfast, Visit Derry and tour operators.

“Familiarisation visits for partner tourism organisations ensures participants experience first-hand the warm welcome Causeway Coast and Glens is renowned for.

“These visits also help engage business owners and representatives directly with the knowledge gained during the trip becoming invaluable when promoting the product or experience and our Council area.”

Echoing this, Destination Manager Kerrie McGonigle added: “We are always proud to showcase what our region has to offer. Engaging with partners who can promote it—whether through tour operators or direct visitor experiences—helps drive additional bed nights and spending in the area.”

The days itinerary was experience focused and began with Discovering the Magic of the Irish Harp at The Courthouse Shared Space Creative Hub in Bushmills, followed by a visit to Bushmills Distillery to explore its tasting experiences. Lunch was enjoyed at The Marcus Portrush, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, accompanied by a tour of the property.

The afternoon highlighted the appeal of the great outdoors in Causeway Coast and Glens as participants enjoyed a guided walk along the recently branded Embrace a Giant Spirit Signature Walk, from Castlerock to Mussenden Temple. The experience showcased the region’s stunning coastline, countryside, valleys, and mountains, as well as its rich history and heritage. Thanks to the National Trust, the group was also able to explore Downhill Demesne and the iconic Mussenden Temple.

The tour concluded with a hands-on Chocolate Making Experience at The Chocolate Manor, part of the Artisans at Work Économusée Northern Ireland.

We were delighted to work collaboratively with, and to receive support from the tourism trade to showcase what Causeway Coast and Glens has to offer —from stunning landscapes and outdoor adventures to history, heritage, and local experiences.
