Music Legends The Fureys Perform in Limavady
Legends of Irish music and song The Fureys perform at the Causeway Coat and Glens Borough Council’s Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre in Limavady, on 19th February at 8pm. Renowned for their many hit songs, including favourites ‘I Will Love You’ and ‘When You Were Sweet Sixteen’, The Fureys have been entertaining audiences worldwide for over 38 years.
Featuring a line-up which includes two of the original brothers, George and Eddie, The Fureys present a rip-roaring and poignant evening of their classic hit songs. These include some folk favourites and songs from their new album ‘The Times They Are a Changing’.
Formed in 1978, the band began on the 60s music scene performing alongside then unknowns Billy Connolly and Gerry Rafferty. Eddie established his name as special guest for the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem throughout the USA and Canada before making a huge name for himself touring Europe in the 70s. In 1974, they first performed as The Furey Brothers and the release of ‘When You Were Sweet Sixteen’ in 1981 catapulted the band to worldwide fame.
Hailed as one of Ireland’s greatest folk bands, a concert by The Fureys is always a night to remember, with the band receiving standing ovations in some of the biggest concert halls of the world.
Desima Connolly, Arts & Cultural Services Officer, comments “We are absolutely delighted to host The Fureys and it promises to be an outstanding evening.
“There are limited tickets available so please book in advance as we cannot guarantee tickets will be available on the night of the concert.”
