Open Mic Night – Have you got what it takes to sing Country!?

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is providing local country music artists of the borough, an opportunity to showcase their talents at an Open Mic Night.  The event will be held in the Lodge Hotel on Thursday 18th February at 7pm, which is free to anyone who wishes to come along and enjoy the music, but entrants must apply in advance to sing!

The Open Mic Night is part of Council’s ‘Coleraine Goes Country’ festival which takes place in Coleraine town centre over Easter, to attract visitors and shoppers to the town with a full programme of entertainment.

Each week leading up to the event, judges and entrants will be announced, and the first judge is Malachi Cush of IrishTV!  Entrants must be from the Borough, and submit their entry by 9th February, all details are on Council’s Facebook site, ‘ColeraineGoesCountry’.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Michelle Knight-McQuillan stated, “This event was specifically designed for Coleraine to attract shoppers and support local business. It kick starts Council’s borough wide annual programme of events and has started to get a great following from those of all ages.

“The Festival programme will be available soon on Council’s Facebook, but the Open Mic Night is new this year, again specifically designed to attract new and budding talent only from our Borough. The winner will be given the opportunity to perform in Coleraine Town centre on the Saturday as part of the Country Music Festival.  I would like to thank the Lodge hotel as they are hosting the location and have provided another prize for the winners, which is £120 dinner voucher.

“Many businesses in Coleraine have come together to support the Festival and equally they will get back in return many visitors to come and listen to the music and enjoy what coleraine has to offer.”

Norma Wilkinson, Proprietor of The Lodge Hotel, Coleraine said “The Lodge Hotel is delighted to be involved in Coleraine Goes Country this year and we hope the Open Mic Night at the hotel is a great success, showcasing the best of our local talent. We are looking forward to a busy Easter and hoping CGC will attract visitors and music enthusiasts from afar.”
