Pupils from St Colum’s Primary School in Portstewart and Carnalridge Primary School in Portrush have enjoyed a practical lesson in staying safe during a visit to the Risk Avoidance Danger Awareness Resource (RADAR) in Belfast.

The initiative, organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Policing and Community Safety Partnership, will allow over 1700 pupils from schools across the region to visit the centre in the coming weeks.

PCSP Chairman Councillor Tony McCaul said: “During the visits, students will participate in six specialised workshops covering a range of issues which support the PCSP’s strategic priorities including drugs and alcohol, anti-social behaviour and the emerging issue of E-safety. The project has had a fantastic level of engagement and is an excellent example of collaboration between the PCSP and local schools.”

The RADAR facility is Northern Ireland’s first and only fully interactive safety and life skills education centre. It allows young people to explore dangerous situations in a risk-free setting and has been designed to inspire, engage and inform them on how best to keep themselves safe.
