Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan and elected representatives were invited to a special preview of the Exhibition on Thursday evening, prior to the official opening on Friday, May 1.

Describing it as a ‘fitting tribute’, Mayor, Councillor McMullan said: "Ballymoney has a proud and enduring connection to road racing, and this exhibition is a fitting celebration of that heritage.

“From legendary riders like Joey Dunlop and Philip McCallen to the many names who have shaped the sport locally, this display brings their remarkable stories to life.

"We are delighted to welcome visitors to Ballymoney Town Hall to experience these unique exhibits and celebrate the legacy that continues to inspire new generations of riders and fans alike."

A key highlight of this year’s exhibition is its focus on two of road racing’s most successful figures, Joey Dunlop and Philip McCallen. Visitors will also be able to view a wide range of memorabilia associated with Robert Dunlop, William Dunlop, Owen McNally, Richard Britton, and many other prominent figures from the sport.

A dedicated Joey Dunlop room forms the centrepiece of the exhibition, offering a rare opportunity to see a collection of previously unseen items. Among the exhibits are four of Dunlop’s iconic racing motorcycles, alongside helmets, trophies, and his personal toolbox.

Additional displays include racing machines ridden by Bruce Anstey and Guy Martin, as well as motorcycles from the historic Armoy Armada riders, further highlighting the depth and diversity of local road racing history.

The exhibition will run from 1 May to 15 May, open daily from 9am to 9pm during this period. Thereafter, it will operate during normal Ballymoney Town Hall opening hours through to late summer.

Admission is free to all visitors.
