The Sing Club Community Choir marked the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement with a special performance.
The event in Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre was held on Tuesday 10th April, the same date that the Agreement was signed in 1998.
Delivered by Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council’s Cultural Services team, the choir drew members from all walks of life and all ages who came together to celebrate the power of singing.
Led by Siobhan Heaney who uses the ‘SingTonicity’ method, the group met weekly throughout February and March for workshops where they experienced relaxation techniques, vocal exercises, tribal sounds, group unison and harmony singing plus lots of empowering fun and laughter!
For their grand finale concert, the choir performed well known songs including Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah and A Generation Waits which they created together to reflect on the impact of the Good Friday Agreement with the help of local singer/songwriter Paddy Nash.
This project was supported by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Good Relations Programme which receives financial support from The Executive Office.
