Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is pleased to announce that the Station Square skatepark zone in Portrush will reopen at 1pm today, Saturday 2nd May.
Following the installation of new skate ramps, the upgraded facility is now ready for use by local and visiting skateboarders. Council extends its thanks to the Station Square Working Group for their valuable contribution to the planning and design of the new layout.
Recognised as a key gathering point for local young people and a well-established hub for skateboarding activity in Portrush, the Station Square space continues to play an important role in community life. Its popularity has long made it a focal point for skaters and spectators alike.
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Oliver McMullan, has welcomed the reopening: "We know this space has become a central meeting point for young people and a vibrant part of Portrush life, and its importance to wellbeing and community connection has been clearly recognised.
"We are delighted to see the upgraded facilities now in place and ready for use. I would like to thank the community for their patience, and the Station Square Working Group for their constructive input, which has helped shape a space that reflects how it is already used and valued.
"We are confident the improved skatepark will continue to be a popular and positive attraction for both residents and visitors.”
Visitors are reminded that the designated zone is intended solely for skateboarding. Other uses are not permitted within the area. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times, and users are encouraged to follow all on-site safety signage.
Council looks forward to seeing the community make positive use of the improved space.
