With the festive season approaching, Translink is encouraging everyone across Causeway Coast and Glens to take the stress out of the Christmas rush by hopping on a wide variety of bus and rail services for a safe and convenient way to travel.
Whether enjoying late-night shopping and socialising or to the panto, Translink’s public transport options can ensure a joyful advent for all.
To help passengers get to their destinations, Metro, Goldliner / Urby and NI Railways are running late-night services on Friday and Saturday nights throughout December, offering connections to towns and cities throughout Northern Ireland.
Passengers can take advantage of special late-night single fares of £6 for all Metro Services. Tickets can be purchased from the driver, conductor or station staff using cash or contactless.
Chris Conway, Translink Group Chief Executive, said: “Christmas is one of the busiest times of year from a public transport perspective, with people flooding into Northern Ireland’s cities and towns in their thousands to finalise their festive shopping.
“Passengers can enjoy the Christmas atmosphere and events knowing they have a safe, reliable way to get home and an extensive range of services to choose from. In addition, leaving the cars at home and hopping aboard a bus or train will reduce city centre congestion while reducing emissions, so we would encourage people to take advantage and contribute to a greener, better-connected future.”
Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Cllr Ciarán McQuillan, said: "As Christmas approaches, I’m pleased to see Translink offering an easy, eco-friendly way to travel around the Causeway Coast and Glens.
With many festive events and popular shopping destinations across various locations, using public transport allows everyone to enjoy the season without the stress of parking or traffic.
I would encourage both locals and visitors to make the most of these late-night services, ensuring a relaxed, sustainable, and enjoyable festive season for all."
Translink is here to help make the festive season more accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable for passengers. By choosing the bus or train instead of the car, you can relax and avoid the stress of traffic and parking. With convenient schedules and routes that take you right into the heart of Northern Ireland's towns and cities, you'll have more time to shop, meet up with friends and enjoy festive events as well as contribute to reducing emissions, helping make our communities greener and cleaner.
