Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council in partnership with Causeway Volunteer Centre and Limavady Volunteer Centre recently celebrated Volunteers’ Week with a series of events recognising local volunteers and showing appreciation for the huge difference they make in our community.

Four events were held across the Borough, which included over 150 volunteers, in Limavady Community Development Initiative, Lodge Hotel, Coleraine, Ballymoney Town Hall and the Marine Hotel, Ballycastle.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins said: “Our volunteers are the driving force behind stronger, more connected communities.

“Every day, they give their time, energy and skills to support others, strengthen local organisations and help create positive change across our community. Their dedication, generosity and community spirit make a real and lasting difference to the lives of so many people.

“Volunteers’ Week gave us a chance to celebrate the invaluable contribution volunteers make in every corner of our Borough. On behalf of Council, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all those who volunteer and help make our community a better place for everyone.”

Ciara McNickle from Causeway Volunteer Centre added: “As we round off Volunteers’ Week 2026, we want to thank every volunteer across the Causeway Coast and Glens for their incredible dedication and commitment.

“From Limavady to Ballycastle, it has been inspiring to see communities come together to celebrate the real impact volunteering has on people’s lives. During Volunteers’ Week alone, over 20,000 hours were recognised through EPIC Awards; each one representing kindness, compassion and a difference being made.

“Causeway Volunteer Centre extends our sincere thanks to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for organising four fantastic celebration events, as well as to the inspiring speakers who shared their volunteer journeys and to everyone who attended and made the week so special.

“Our volunteers are the driving force behind stronger, more connected communities. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, now is the perfect time to get involved and be part of something truly meaningful.”

Jennie Robinson from Limavady Volunteer’s Centre added: “Limavady Volunteer centre has the privilege of seeing first-hand the positive impact volunteers make in their individual settings, and the benefits they gain from their placements

“Numerous organisations could not operate without the passion and generosity of volunteers, and we see this week in and week out .

“Limavady Volunteer Centre has given out EPIC awards to volunteers during the week to mark and celebrate the number of hours contributed to organisations. This week of celebration has been done in collaboration with Causeway Volunteer Centre and CC&G Borough Council.”
