Expression of Interest: Biomethane & Transport Decarbonisation

The Centre for Competitiveness, in association with Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, is progressing a feasibility study to assess the potential for biomethane gas to support the decarbonisation of transport and logistics across the Borough.

This initiative is focused on helping businesses address Scope 3 emissions and transition towards more sustainable operations.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from 8–10 businesses, with a particular focus on SMEs, to participate in a collaborative study.

By taking part, organisations will:

  • Contribute to shaping a potential cluster-based biomethane supply network
  • Explore opportunities to reduce emissions and fuel costs
  • Gain access to Invest NI funding and technical expertise
  • Engage with regional policy developments and infrastructure planning

The study will consider both end users of biomethane and organisations involved in anaerobic digestion (AD).

Subject to sufficient interest, participants will be invited to a briefing session on the Department for the Economy’s biomethane policy framework and next steps.

Deadline for expressions of interest: 12 noon, Friday 28th August 2026

This is a valuable opportunity to play a role in shaping the future low-carbon economy within Causeway Coast and Glens.
