Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is inviting expressions of interest from suitably experienced graziers for Winter Conservation Grazing across four coastal sites.
This is a three-year grazing agreement (2026–2029) supporting the ongoing management of important coastal habitats. Conservation grazing helps improve wildflower diversity, supports insects and wildlife, and maintains healthy natural landscapes.
Available Grazing Sites
Applications are invited for the following locations:
- Waterfoot – 2 hectares (4.94 acres)
- Benone Strand – 9 hectares (22.24 acres)
- Magilligan Point – 2 hectares (4.94 acres)
- The Moors, Castlerock – 5.68 hectares (14.03 acres)
Applicants can bid for one or more sites.
Grazing Requirements
Grazing periods vary by location and will operate seasonally between September/November and March/April each year from 2026 to 2029.
Stocking levels will be agreed annually and are based on conservation requirements, measured in Livestock Units (LU) per hectare.
