From Mesolithic to Motorcycles, discover the history, beauty and mystery of Ballymoney.
Ballymoney Museum is located within the Town Hall and offers visitors the opportunity to explore the vibrant history of the area. The permanent exhibition includes the story of the area since early times including the mystical Derrykeighan Stone from which the museum takes its enigmatic logo, the 1798 Rebellion, local involvement in the two World Wars, the Corfield Camera factory and the history of Road Racing in Ireland.
We also have a recently refurbished children's area within our permanent gallery. This is a space for children to explore and get interactive with our sensory and tactile walls, dress up area, puzzles, reading area and our 'colour the collection' colouring in sheets.
Also provided as part of the cultural services events programme are temporary exhibitions exploring specific local community stories.
Within our upstairs community gallery we have a History Resource Area that contains research, books and information useful for genealogical research. We also have access to Ballymoney Film maker Charlie McAfee's film archive- available to watch on a stand alone computer and a 3D map of Ballymoney and it's key buildings.
Coffee table and chairs available within this space.
The Visitor Information Centre is also located within the building.
